Ria grew up on the back of a horse. She began her riding career at the young age of 4 on her family’s farm in the West of Ireland. Through-out her childhood every weekend you could find Ria competing in various equestrian disciplines including dressage, show-jumping, eventing, hunter shows and Pony Club.

Her first instructor was her mother Vida who guided her to many successes in the competition arena. Vida, who is also an international judge, has had many successes of her own with riding and training. One of the most notable would the training of eventer Custom Made to advanced level before selling him onto David O Connor who of course won the gold medal at the Sydney Olympics for the United States.

In 1999, at the age of fifteen, Ria represented Ireland on the dressage team at the FEI European Pony Championships in Stromsholm Sweden aboard her pony Banagher Star. Here she placed the highest of the Irish riders. The next year riding Dunlo Stroller she was long listed for the Irish event team heading to the Pony Championships. In 2000, Ria competed at the British Under 21 Championships in Keysoe, England aboard the FEI pony Tarzan. This was her final year as a pony rider but still had one more year of school.

After she graduated high school, Ria accepted an invitation to work and train with internationally renowned trainer Conrad Schumacher and Olympic Medalist Ellen Bontje in Germany. Here she spent two years learning the Schumacher training system and being inspired by all the wonderful horses and riders in the barn. She had great success with her own horse, Priamos, who she trained to Prix St George and competed at M level under the guidance and tutelage of Ellen Bontje.

From Germany, Ria hopped the pond and moved to the United States to work for Tempel Farms near Chicago Il.She worked with the Tempel Lippizans for two years under Head Trainer and German Master Jochen Hippenstiel.Here she had the unique opportunity to support and participate in the world renowned Lipizzaner Performances .She also learnt some of the old classical training methods such as work in hand and the airs above the ground. Ria rode a number of Lipizzaner stallions from young horses to Grand Prix.She also successfully competed the Lipizzaner stallion Napolitano V Anita at Second level receiving scores in the high 60s to low 70s.

In 2006, Ria moved to New Hampshire and started working for international trainer Pamela Goodrich at Foster Meadow Farm. She also brought along her horse Tacoma M with whom progressed from First level to Fourth level within the first 8 months of riding with Pam. Ria soon filled the position of Barn Manager and Assistant Trainer to Pam. Over the course of five years she has trained her horse Tacoma to Grand Prix while competing her at Prix St George and Intermedaire 1.In 2009, Ria and Tacoma won the Intermedaire 1 Reserve Champion title at the Region 8 Championships at the NEDA Fall Festival. She also represented Ireland at numerous international competitions in the small tour. Her successes in the show ring with Tacoma put Ria on the developing international riders list with Horse Sport Ireland.

During her time at Foster Meadow, Ria had the opportunity to ride and train a variety of different horse from youngsters to Grand Prix schoolmasters. She also rode and competed client and sales horses. Ria had the responsibility of managing and teaching the Foster Meadow working students. In 2010, she began freelance training and teaching a variety of breeds and disciplines including jumpers and Tennessee Walkers! She also began instructing lessons at Windswept Farm in Canterbury NH.

Aurelia goes on the Sunshine Tour to the Winter Equestrian Festival in Florida. She is currently teaching, schooling and selling.

Ria is a hardworking and dedicated professional trainer who has a background of riding and training a variety of horse in different disciplines. This has allowed her to develop her own very unique training methods according to the horse and rider.

Competition Experience


Tacoma M- shown successfully from first level thru Intermedaire 1 achieving numerous High Point Awards and scores in the 70’s.
2009 Intermedaire 1 Reserve Champion at the Region 8 Regional Championships with Tacoma M.
Also competed successfully client and sales horses for Foster Meadow.
Neopolitano V Anita-shown successfully at Second level and qualifying for Region 2 Championships.
